Dasco on AGO Search at BGN: We Trust the Law Enforcement Process

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has addressed the recent raid conducted by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) headquarters. He emphasized that the House fully trusts law enforcement authorities to handle the ongoing legal proceedings.

When questioned about the raid and rumors regarding the arrest of individuals linked to the recent leadership transition at the agency, Dasco stated that he had not yet received comprehensive information. “I have not heard anything regarding arrests; I am only aware of the reports concerning the search,” Dasco told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (June 3).

Despite the lack of specific details, he maintained that any ongoing legal process falls under the jurisdiction of law enforcement. “Regardless of the specifics, we leave it to the law enforcement authorities, who certainly have their own considerations and assessments,” he added.

Addressing concerns about alleged legal violations during the previous BGN leadership, Dasco noted that various inputs from Commission IX of the House had already been submitted to the government for evaluation purposes. He believes these insights were integral to the government’s decision-making process.

“I believe the feedback provided by Commission IX to the government regarding the evaluation of the BGN has been incorporated,” Dasco explained. “We feel that these suggestions have been accommodated by the government, leading to several measures aimed at improving governance within the agency. Regarding other matters, I am less informed as those communications were sent directly to the government.”

The Attorney General’s Office confirmed the operation earlier today. The search is reportedly linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal activities. Muhammad Jefri, acting head of the AGO’s Legal Information Center, confirmed the development, stating, “The Special Crimes investigators of the Attorney General’s Office are indeed conducting a search at the BGN office.”

On-site observations revealed tight security around the BGN headquarters. The gates remained closed, with media personnel kept at a distance. Employees were visible in the front area of the building, while several vehicles remained parked in the lobby.

This high-profile raid occurred just hours after President Prabowo Subianto enacted a significant leadership reshuffle within the BGN. The agency’s head, Dadan Hindayana, was removed from his position and replaced by Nanik S. Deyang. In addition to the leadership change, the two deputy heads of the BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya, were also relieved of their duties.
