The victim had been at the workshop, spending time in the back area while using her mobile phone. At the time, two employees, Tri and Ade, were performing repairs on motorcycles within the shop. According to Ipda Syaiful Rusdiansyah, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Cikupa Police, the fire was triggered by a routine maintenance procedure gone wrong.

Ade was heating a motorcycle component, specifically a shield water pump, using a portable gas torch. Simultaneously, his colleague, Tri, was in the process of cleaning a motorcycle fuel tank. As Ade worked, the flames from his torch accidentally ignited the fuel tank Tri was handling. In a moment of panic, Tri instinctively threw the burning tank into the workshop, causing the fire to spread rapidly throughout the interior of the building.

As the blaze escalated, J was trapped in the rear of the shop. In a desperate attempt to seek shelter from the flames, she retreated into the bathroom. Tragically, the fire spread too quickly, and she was unable to escape. First responders later discovered the teenager’s body in a seated position inside the bathroom. Her remains have since been recovered and transported to the Balaraja Regional General Hospital (RSUD).

The fire was eventually brought under control by the Tangerang Regency BPBD, which deployed two fire engines to the scene. By 3:30 PM WIB, the flames were fully extinguished, allowing authorities to begin the evacuation process. Police investigations later confirmed that the fire was sparked by the use of carburetor cleaner near the open flame, which acted as an accelerant, allowing the fire to engulf the workshop premises within minutes.
