Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), has urged the Jakarta Metro Police to comply with a recent court ruling concerning the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. This call to action follows the South Jakarta District Court’s decision to grant a pretrial motion challenging how the police handled the investigation.
“Once a legal precedent is set, the Jakarta Metro Police must follow up in accordance with the court’s decision,” Sahroni stated when confirmed on Tuesday, June 2. He expressed confidence that the police force would uphold the rule of law and conduct the necessary follow-up actions as required by current regulations.
The South Jakarta District Court ruling, issued on the morning of June 2, marks a significant development in the case. The pretrial motion was filed by the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) on behalf of Andrie Yunus, naming the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metro Police as the respondent.
The legal challenge was prompted by allegations of undue delay and the quiet suspension of the investigation by the police. The controversy stems from the police’s decision to fully transfer the case to the Military Police Center (Puspom TNI) after it was revealed that four members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS TNI) were among the perpetrators on the ground.

Through this pretrial process, Yunus’s legal team sought a court order compelling the Jakarta Metro Police to reopen the investigation within the civilian justice system. The request is supported by CCTV evidence, which strongly suggests that 16 individuals were involved in the attack, including potential civilian accomplices and intellectual actors who have yet to face legal consequences.
In a decisive ruling, Judge Suparna confirmed that the petitioner held the legal standing to bring the case forward. The court partially granted the request, effectively ordering the police to resume the legal proceedings.
“Granting the petitioner’s request in part,” stated Judge Suparna. “We order the respondent to continue the legal process regarding police report number LP/A/222/III/2026/Sat Reskrim/Restro Jakpus/Polda Metro Jaya, dated March 13, 2026.” With this court mandate, the focus now shifts back to the Jakarta Metro Police to ensure justice is served in the case of the attack on Andrie Yunus.
Summary
Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives, has urged the Jakarta Metro Police to comply with the South Jakarta District Court’s ruling regarding the acid attack case against activist Andrie Yunus. The court’s decision, which followed a pretrial motion filed by the Advocacy Team for Democracy, requires the police to resume the legal proceedings after allegations of undue delay and an improper suspension of the investigation.
The legal challenge was initiated after the police transferred the case to the Military Police Center, despite evidence suggesting the involvement of civilian accomplices. Judge Suparna has now ordered the Jakarta Metro Police to continue the investigation into the incident, specifically referencing the police report filed in March 2026. This ruling mandates that authorities address the case further to ensure justice for the victim.
